Trelleborg to acquire aerospace thermoplastics maker Tri-Mack
The sealing business of Sweden's Trelleborg has agreed to buy US-based Tri-Mack, which does thermoplastic composite processing, injection molding and toolmaking; the company's 2025 sales were about 300 million Swedish kronor.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, part of Sweden's Trelleborg Group, has agreed to acquire Tri-Mack Plastics Manufacturing of Bristol, Rhode Island. Tri-Mack will be added to Trelleborg's aerospace operations.
Tri-Mack's manufacturing capabilities include automated thermoplastic composite processing, injection molding, toolmaking, multi-axis machining, bonding and assembly. Besides aerospace, it makes components for semiconductor equipment and industrial gas turbines. Sales in 2025 were about 300 million Swedish kronor.
The purchase price was not disclosed; closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027. Trelleborg previously acquired Aero-Plastics and Magee Plastics to build up its high-performance thermoplastic offering for aerospace.
What does this mean for a molder?
In aerospace, high-performance thermoplastics such as PEEK and PEI and composites are replacing metal parts, and large groups are buying up this capability quickly. With these materials, high mold temperatures, strict drying and traceability are standard; for molders considering this field, much of the investment goes into mold heating and quality systems rather than the machine itself.
