Petkim picks Univation's UNIPOL technology for a planned polyethylene complex in Aliağa: 850,000 tonnes a year
According to Univation's 27 October announcement, Petkim selected UNIPOL PE technology for a planned two-line (2×425,000 t) polyethylene complex; no final investment decision has been taken yet.

In an announcement on 27 October 2026, Univation Technologies said Petkim Petrokimya Holding has selected the UNIPOL™ PE process for a planned polyethylene (PE) complex in Aliağa, İzmir. The announcement quotes Univation president Sereen Massoud; the page does not include a statement from Petkim itself.
The announcement gives the following information:
- The total licensed polyethylene resin capacity is 850,000 metric tonnes a year.
- The complex will consist of two similarly designed 425,000 t/a reactor lines, producing a broad portfolio of high-performance polyethylene products.
- Univation describes it as one of the largest polyethylene technology licences awarded in Türkiye.
- The selection was made before Petkim's final investment decision (FID). The announcement gives no FID date, construction schedule or start-up date.
- It will be the first UNIPOL PE installation at the Petkim site.
What does this mean for a molder?
Because the announcement gives no dates and no final investment decision, no near-term effect on PE supply or prices can be predicted. Domestic polyethylene capacity is nevertheless central to the debate on Türkiye's dependence on imported raw material. When choosing a material, you can compare the density and shrinkage values of the PE grades in our material list.
