FDU Hotrunner and Oerlikon HRSflow form hot runner production partnership
Under an agreement announced at Fakuma 2026, Oerlikon HRSflow will manufacture hot runner systems and components based on concepts developed by Germany's FDU Hotrunner; FDU keeps responsibility for technology and control systems.

FDU Hotrunner of Frankenthal, Germany, and Oerlikon HRSflow, part of Switzerland's Oerlikon Group, announced a hot runner production partnership at Fakuma 2026. FDU develops flat die unit hot runner systems for injection molds.
Under the agreement:
- Oerlikon HRSflow will manufacture hot runner solutions and components based on concepts developed by FDU.
- FDU will continue technology development, engineering and system design, and keeps responsibility for control and regulation systems and for the overall technology.
- The partners describe it as an operational production partnership focused on engineering, technical solutions, standardisation and process reliability.
Oerlikon HRSflow has more than 1,000 employees and over 50 subsidiaries, with plants in Italy (San Polo di Piave, headquarters), China (Hangzhou) and the USA (Michigan). Financial terms and timing were not disclosed.
What does this mean for a molder?
Partnerships between small, innovative hot runner designers and large manufacturers mean new systems come with a wider service and spare-parts network. When choosing a hot runner, look not only at the design but also at how quickly nozzles, heaters and thermocouples can be obtained — one failed zone can stop a mold for days.
